Welcome to Children Worship & Wonder
Children Worship & Wonder (CWW) presents a joyful way for children to worship God. It invites children and adults to experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique storytelling format and multi-sensory materials. It is found in churches across America and has been used with children up to sixth grade, in nursing homes, and in hospitals. At FCC we focus on preschool through elementary-aged children, but parents and other family members are always welcome to join us. CWW is a program of Disciples Home Missions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is based on the book Young Children and Worship by Sonja Stewart and Jerome Berryman. You may view the 2019-20 story schedule below.
A Special Place
Children Worship & Wonder was created to make a special place where children can come to encounter God…to be still with God and to listen to God. It is a place where children come to nurture their spiritual life.
Children Worship & Wonder uses the familiar four-fold order of worship that many different congregations are familiar with: 1) God’s people gather, 2) the word is proclaimed, 3) we respond to the Word, 4) God’s people are sent into the world. This order is followed every Sunday. Because there is a ritual to this time together, the children are free to relax into the space and go deeper into the stories. They can truly enter into a time of listening and talking with God. As children move from Children Worship & Wonder into “big” worship, they are familiar with the rhythm and joy of worshiping. They bring this with them as they continue participating in worship with the bigger congregation.
